Roseau County Historical Society

Established in 1927, the not for profit organization contains both an excellent museum and research center. The museum displays both permanent and rotating thematic exhibits based on the history of Roseau County and/or Northwest Minnesota. They cover a variety of topics include immigration and the development of the county, local American Indians, agriculture, business and industry, and veteran history. The museum encourages visitors to participate in the interactive exhibits. Historic photographs, shown on a SMART Board screen, cover exhibit themes. The museum also hosts traveling exhibits from the Smithsonian Institute, the Minnesota Historic Northwest Consortium, the Minnesota Historical Society, and the North Dakota Museum of Art.

The research center collection contains city, township, and county memorabilia, including church, businesses and industry, organizations, family, military, and school records.
